Former Disney distribution chief and self-help author Dave Hollis has passed away at age 47. Hollis’ ex-wife, successful novelist Rachel Hollis, claimed in a statement that the family was “devastated”
She said,
“I have no words and my heart is too broken to find them.”
A family spokesperson told US media sites that the reason for Hollis’ death has not been confirmed, but he had recently been hospitalized for “heart difficulties.”
On Saturday night, he passed away peacefully at his home outside Austin, Texas.
His ex-wife, Rachel Hollis, pleaded, “Please cover the children in prayer as we attempt to traverse the unimaginable.”
Hollis worked for Disney for 17 years, including seven years as head of distribution, until leaving in 2018 to join his ex-wife in her professional endeavors.
During his tenure at Disney, Hollis oversaw the relaunch of the Star Wars series as well as the release of popular films such as Frozen and Black Panther.
He told the Associated Press that he thought his new profession with his wife was his “calling” after falling into a corporate rut.
Rachel Hollis, who has four children with her husband Dave, is the owner of the Hollis Company, a motivational speaker, and the author of the best-selling book Girl, Wash Your Face.
She has been criticized in the past for remarks such as calling American abolitionist Harriet Tubman “unrelatable.”
The couple collaborated on live streams, conferences, and podcasts, including one titled Rise Together, which was about their relationship. In 2020, the couple announced their divorce.
Additionally, Dave Hollis is the author of three books, including the self-help book Get Out of Your Way.
