5 Quick Facts About Jen Shah’s Legal Issues from RHOSLC Season 3

Jen Shah

Jen Shah of RHOSLC is in grave legal jeopardy and might receive a lengthy prison sentence. On July 11, 2022, Shah admitted guilt to wire fraud; the second season of the show featured coverage of her arrest. After starring on RHOSLC in 2020, Shah became a household name. She will soon make an appearance in the show’s third season.

In the teaser, Jen claims that her assistant Stuart Smith deceived her and that she is innocent. Danna then reveals to Whitney that Jen’s coworker who served as the informant in this case was someone she knew. Here are five details about Jen Shah’s fraud case to keep in mind when RHOSLC Season 3 premieres on September 28, 2022, even if Shah hasn’t been sentenced yet.

5 key details about Jen Shah’s court case and hearings on RHOSLC

1) Since 2012, Jen Shah has been operating her “fraudulent” scheme.

Jen Shah is accused of using a telemarketing operation that covered six states to con hundreds of people, many of whom were over the age of 55. Since 2012, she has been running this fraud. According to reports, Jen and her colleague Stuart Smith took advantage of elderly people who were at risk by providing them with “business services” and carrying out “fraudulent schemes” that Shah acknowledges had little to no value.

The RHOSLC actress and her assistant referred to their victims as “leads” to be sold, according to HSI Special Agent-in-Charge Peter C. Fitzhugh. Money laundering and a conspiracy to commit wire fraud were both brought against Shah and Smith. Jen was taken into custody in March 2021. She initially denied the allegations and vowed to challenge all charges.

2) Following the cancellation of her holiday plans with her co-star, Shah was held in a parking lot.

During the filming of an episode of RHOSLC Season 2, which will debut on Bravo on November 7, 2021, Jen Shah was taken into custody. She was getting set to travel to Vail, Colorado, for a holiday with her co-stars. After receiving a call, which she initially said was about her partner being hospitalized due to intestinal hemorrhage, Jen left the stage.

She was detained in the Beauty Lab parking lot by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the New York Police Department, and Homeland Security off camera. When a white minivan and a black SUV walked up to Jen in the parking lot, she said to Heather Gay that she thought she was being kidnapped. Additionally, Shah claimed that the police broke into her house and pointed a gun at her child.

3)Shah first entered a not guilty plea to the accusations.

In April, Jen entered a not guilty plea to the charges of money laundering and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Contrarily, the prosecution claimed that she profited at least $5 million from her lie. Because Jen posed a flight risk, the court asked her to surrender her passport. Shah entered a guilty plea on July 11 instead of the July 18 trial date, and is now awaiting sentencing. She told her co-stars that she was innocent in Season 2. She might have to explain her plea deal to them in Season 3.

4) Shah might be sentenced to 30 years in jail.

The RHOSLC star will be sentenced in November 2022. Shah could spend up to 30 years behind bars, but she’s seeking to negotiate a plea deal that will limit her sentence to 11 to 14 years. The US attorney has already dropped the conspiracy to commit money laundering charge as part of a plea agreement, reducing her potential prison sentence from 50 years to 30 years.

5) During the trial, Jen’s aide also modified his plea.

Stuart, who was detained on the same day as Jen, entered a not-guilty plea. In November 2021, he changed his plea to guilty and pledged to testify against his former employer. His verdict is still pending. In the RHOSLC Season 3 trailer, Jen can be heard accusing her former assistant Stuart Smith and asserting her innocence.
