5 Unscripted Scenes From Friends That Were Maintained

Friends

Friends are such a great show because of the people, their chemistry together, and their capacity to contribute their special ideas. Despite being on the air for 25 years, the show still feels contemporary.

Even while the Friends script is without a doubt one of the funniest in sitcom history, many memorable scenes were spontaneous and unplanned. This is what sets the sitcom apart.

Top 5 impromptu moments with friends

Here are five impromptu and unscripted scenes from Friends that are fan favorites.

1. Ben and Ross make a joke about Rachel

The creators wanted Jennifer Aniston to react more naturally, so she was not informed in advance that Rachel would be played for a fool by Ross and his son Ben in an episode involving Rachel, Ross, and his son Ben. And they received all they sought. In the situation, Ben and Rachel were both playing pranks on Ross, but Rachel was unaware that she was being played.

2. Donald Trump preferred a black blazer

Chandler has always been the one to make sarcastic comments and jokes. But this time, he flubbed his lines and embarrassed himself.

Despite Chandler pronouncing the term incorrectly, the scene was included in the series because of the other characters’ spontaneous reactions. Although Matthew Perry made the error, the way everyone laughed at him for it and his reaction was too funny to leave out of the performance.

3. Carol Weeps

Early Friends episodes featured Ross going through his first divorce from his then-wife Carol. When Ross and Carol unexpectedly run into one another at dinner and Ross tenderly begs Carol not to leave him, Carol had tears in her eyes.

Jane Sibbett, who portrayed Carol in the series, spoke with Entertainment Weekly. She claimed that even though the filmmakers had not requested that she cry, she was moved to tears by David Schwimmer’s sensitive portrayal.

4. Being hit by a cabinet

In the episode The One with the Cuffs, after he sees Rachel’s boss Joanna, Chandler engages in some foreplay with some handcuffs and ends up chained to a filing cabinet.

Inadvertently unlocking the filing cabinet, Chandler is struck in the head when he enters the room and asks Rachel to help him get out of the uncomfortable situation. The error was maintained since it added a comic element. Perry maintained the persona and carried it through despite this scene element not being part of the script.

5. The epilogue

As the six friends parted ways to pursue their careers in the final episode of Friends, it was a devastating sight. It couldn’t end that way, and the audience sobbed. Matthew Perry decided to improvise a bit. In the final scene, as the six actors are leaving Monica’s apartment, Rachel suggests that they get coffee.
