Charges Against Dylan Syer
Dylan Syer was charged in New York City with stealing more than $1 million from Kevin Hart. He allegedly made unauthorized purchases using the comedian’s credit cards.
“Dylan was arraigned in Queens Supreme Court on Wednesday, Feb.10, 2021, facing grand larceny and other charges,” said Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz.
“With Kevin’s stolen money in the defendant’s bank account and at his disposal, the defendant then purchased thousands of dollars of fine art and other collectibles, as well as at least five Patek Phillipe watches valued at more than $400,000,” Melinda continued.
“Among these art and collectible purchases were a Sam Friedman painting, at least 16 Bearbrick collectible dolls, five KAWS collectible dolls, and two Louis Vuitton Keepall Bandouliere bags,” she continued.
Dylan started working for Kevin in 2015. According to reports, he began with small legitimate expenses for the comic before funneling money into his personal account. Dylan is also accused of sending purchased items home via FedEx. The robbery began in October 2017 and lasted until January 2019.
According to Page Six, Dylan was charged with “grand larceny in the first and second degrees, criminal possession of stolen property in the first and second degrees, identity theft in the first degree, and scheme to defraud in the first degree” on a 10-count indictment.
Dylan could face a 25-year prison sentence if convicted.
