Laura Schwartzenberger is a special FBI agent who specializes in investigating crimes against children. Laura and another special FBI agent, Daniel Alfin, 36, were shot dead in Sunrise, Florida, on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2021, at an apartment complex called Water Terrace, while serving an early morning warrant investigation in a crime against children pornography. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the shooter was killed before his identity was made public. “We lost two of our own today,” FBI Director Christopher Wray said. He stated that Schwartzenberger and Alfin were killed in the line of duty, adding that they “put themselves in harm’s way to keep the American people safe,” and that “Special Agent Alvin and Special Agent Schwartzenberger exemplified heroism today in defense of their country.” The FBI will always remember their ultimate sacrifice and be eternally grateful for their bravery.”
