Jacob began playing hockey when he was 14 years old, in 2010. He has since played for a variety of teams, including the Wellington Dukes and Colgate University. However, before becoming a hockey player, he worked as a worker for Fairway Property Maintenance and as a Gas Dock helper for Crate Marine. In May of 2020, Jacob finished his summer internship with PRM Inc.
In 2010, he made his ice hockey debut for the ‘Quinte Red Devils UA15 AAA,’ and a year later for the ‘Quinte Red Devils UA16 AAA.’ In 2012, he played for the ‘Picton Pirates for a year before joining the ‘Wellington Dukes’ for three seasons. He began playing for his Colgate University squad in 2016 and remained with them until his death. Jacob was signed by the Jacksonville Icemen in 2020 and continues to play for them.
Controversy
Jacob became himself in a scandal after he was accused of making racist gestures to his opponent, PK Subban. According to Subban, Jackob has made Monkey faces at him during match overtime, and he even uploaded a proof video of Jacob on Twitter where he mocked Subban. Later, Jackob apologized to Subban and stated that his move was never intended to be a discriminatory gesture, but Subban stated that he did not want anyone’s pity. All of the commotions led to Jacob Panetta’s suspension from the Jacksonville Icemen.
