Alexander, who is 27 years old, was born and reared in Ashland, Virginia. He is a Richmond native who attended Patrick Henry High School and is currently enrolled at Bridgewater College for higher education. His father, William Campbell, died in 2009, and his mother, Cheryl Campbell. His two eldest brothers, William Austin and Grant McBryde are both older than him. When his father died in 2009 following a long fight with brain cancer, the entire family was living in Parham Chapel. His motivation for murdering the police officers is yet unknown. He is, nevertheless, jailed in the Rockingham County Jail. “This is a sad and gloomy day for Bridgewater College,” the college president said in a statement.

Shooting at Bridgewater College
According to police officials, the event occurred on February 1, 2022, when one of the active shooters began at roughly 1:20 p.m. when two cops were responding to a call for a suspicious male. The strange male was discovered on the ground of the campus memorial hall. Police officers resolved the situation and recognized the suspicious individual as Campbell.
The suspect opened fire after a brief interaction. He then fired and killed the two officers before fleeing the scene. When the death occurred on the site, the entire law enforcement apparatus went into action. Campbell was arrested immediately following the deaths of two cops. For many hours, no one outside of law enforcement was told the details. However, it was shortly revealed that Campbell was the active shooter on campus.
Charges
Campbell also inflicted harm on himself. He has a non-life-threatening wound. Authorities have yet to determine if he was shot by a Bridgewater College police officer or shot himself. The authorities are on the case. For the time being, though, Campbell is linked to some firearms. He was a resident of Ashland, Virginia. He is currently accused of four offenses, two of which are capital murder. Campbell’s firearms have been recovered. These were the cops and campus workers who spotted the location of Campbell and confirmed the murder of the officers who were shot to death there.

Alexander Wyatt Campbell has previously been a member of the Bridgewater track squad. Curt Autry, an NBC12 correspondent, confirmed that Campbell was a former student who was a standout on Bridgewater’s track team. He further stated that Campbell was an active track participant at Patrick Henry High School, where he graduated in 2013. Campbell also holds the record for winning at least one 5,000-meter race in a single season. The culprit has now been apprehended, and college employees have confirmed the news about Campbell’s full name.
The college’s website was taken down as a result of the event, however, it was later restored. The incident was characterized by a succession of emergency alerts. Just after 1:24 p.m., the first report of an active shooter came in. After a minute, the institution released a message stating that this was not the test and that further information would be provided shortly. Later, the website promotes Bridgewater College as one of Virginia’s “safest universities.”
Officers Killed: “Dynamic Duo”
The painter worked in law enforcement for many years. According to his LinkedIn page, he was then appointed chief of police at the Town of Grottoes for many years. He formerly worked as a police sergeant and officer for the Grottoes police department. He has also continued to work as a police officer for the Elton Police Department. Painter, according to the Daily News, was a former personality from Grottoes’ post who retired in 2019. Later, he was added to the college’s list of campus police officers.
Officers John Painter and J.J. Jefferson are now regarded as heroes. Both officers were so close that Painter even attended Jefferson’s recent wedding and served as best man. On the evening of February 1, 2022, police officials announced Alexander Wyatt Campbell’s identity in the news. Following that, the officers’ names were made public. The painter was a college law enforcement officer, and Jefferson was a campus safety officer. Both were allegedly murdered and shot to death.
