Josh’s professional career began after he graduated from high school. He began his career as a comedian while studying creative writing at The Evergreen State College. Blue began performing stand-up comedy at open mics while attending The Evergreen State College. Blue made a name for himself on the comedy circuit as audiences responded favorably to his self-deprecating humor. In 2002, he won the prestigious Comedy Works New Talent Search competition. He has appeared on Comedy Central’s Mind of Mencia several times. Blue won $10,000 in the 2004 Royal Flush Comedy Competition at the Las Vegas Comedy Festival.
He was the first comedian to perform stand-up comedy on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Among his other television appearances are Life with Regis and Kelly, Comics Unleashed, and others on Fox, CBS, ABC, and MSNBC. Josh was voted the 13th greatest comedian in Comedy Central’s Stand-up Comedy Showdown 2010. Blue can be seen in the music video “The Psychoanalyst” by Boulder’s Rose Hill Drive.
Blue was voted the 11th greatest comedian in Comedy Central’s 2011 Stand-up Comedy Showdown. He was the opening act at Ron White’s 2013 Las Vegas Salute to the Troops. He also appeared on America’s Got Talent in 2021, when he received four yeses from the judges.
