Paolo began playing basketball at the age of four. His family has a sporting background. Rhonda, his mother, played college basketball professionally in the American Basketball League.
She went on to coach basketball at Holy Academy in Seattle. His father, Mario, was a tight end for the University of Washington. Banchero began his profession at a young age by joining the Rotary Boys and Girls Club of Seattle. He played basketball and football at O’Dea High School. On the football field, he was the backup quarterback for the state championship squad. His rookie season saw him average 14.1 points and 10.2 rebounds.
And his sophomore season saw him average 18.2 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. He led O’Dea to the Class 3A state title. In addition, he was awarded the most valuable player. He averaged 22.6 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.6 blocks per game as a junior. Banchero was also named Washington Gatorade Player of the Year and the MaxPreps National Junior of the Year. Daryll Hennings was his coach. Paolo, he claims, is the team’s most humble player.
Banchero was a consensus five-star recruit and one of the class’s top players in 2021. He earned scholarship offers from elite NCAA Division I institutions such as Duke, Kansas, and Kentucky. They were even prepared to provide him with a scholarship. Despite all odds, Banchero has agreed to join Duke on August 20, 2020.
On the football field, Banchero also plays quarterback and free safety. In 2014, he led FBU Seattle to third place at FBCthe. Later in 2015, he rose to the second position. In the 2017 FBU 8th grade All-American game, he also scored three touchdowns and demonstrated his passing ability. According to his reputation, he will lead his team to victory in the season opener against Kentucky University on November 10th, 2021.
