Cam Newton insists that he still has a lot to give after suffering several injuries over the previous few seasons. Given the devoted fanbase his larger-than-life presence attracts, Newton provides more than certain passing. Newton, however, seems to be having trouble breaking into the NFL.
It’s odd that a former NFL MVP and Heisman Trophy winner is a free agent as the 2021 NFL season picks up steam. After a remarkable collapse following his Super Bowl performance with the Carolina Panthers in 2015, Cam Newton finds himself in that predicament.
Where Is Cam Newton Now?
Newton’s second tenure with the Panthers was brief, and he is now looking for a new team.
Because they were in severe need of a quarterback, the Carolina Panthers signed Cam Newton. Sam Darnold, the Panthers’ starting quarterback, missed time with a shoulder issue.
Newton introduced a sense of hope to the franchise that had been missing for a while. In addition, he lived up to his promise, scoring twice on his first two plays in a winning return against the Arizona Cardinals.

Cam’s other five starts, meanwhile, saw him fall short of repeating his outstanding performance. Sam Darnold was made the starting quarterback once more by coach Matt Rhule.
The writing appeared to be on the wall for Cam following the Panthers’ defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In what would have been his final home game for the Panthers, he vanished into the Bank of America Stadium tunnel well ahead of his teammates.
Newton stated,
“Football has been nice to me, I was able to escape without any injuries. Although it may sound like I’m retiring, I have some wonderful recollections. Later, Newton clarified that his address wasn’t intended to be his farewell.”
Newton said, “But the thing I can take satisfaction in is being able to say I never blinked, I never bitched, I never moaned, I never pointed the finger, and I never wanted it any easier than what it is.
Cam said he would prefer to stay with the Panthers and be a part of their reconstruction, but he can’t have complete control over his destiny.
As a male, you simply have to accept the role you are given, Cam stated.
Newton is certain that he can perform at a high level no matter where he ends up. “I know the expectations I have for myself,” he said to ESPN. But selfishly, the query may be phrased as “Do you think I can still play?” Yes. I believe I can still play. at an advanced level.
Cam can stay in Carolina, but he’ll probably have to make do with a supporting role. According to general manager Scott Fitterer, the team is open to signing him. Scott expressed his admiration for Cam and his influence. Fitterer continued:
Even on those difficult days following a defeat, Cam brought excitement every day. “His leadership and what he did, at really a bad moment. He led by an excellent example. I genuinely was amazed at him, as I had already told him. So, we are receptive to it.
Cam left the New England Patriots and then joined with the Panthers.
In a teaser video uploaded to Instagram, Cam remarked, “I have a lot of football still in me.”
Cam wants to play football at the top level forever, but it’s not clear if any teams are prepared to take a chance on him. Ian Rapoport, a football analyst, said on Gresh & Keefe that he had not heard of any team giving Cam a job but issued a warning that the possible employer might be keeping things quiet.
Newton claimed that he thought he was better than some of the 32 starting quarterbacks in the league and so deserved to be on a team in a tell-all film regarding his release from the New England Patriots. Despite Cam’s strong resume, it’s unlikely that a team will bench a starting quarterback to make room for him.
“His biggest chance is probably a starter going down, a team not having a solid backup, not trusting their backup, or thinking they are only a quarterback away from being a serious contender,” – Ian added.
Perhaps that team will sign him. Cam Newton was supposedly signed by the Carolina Panthers in 2021 for a $10 million contract. Newton would have been at ease supporting Mac Jones.
In a statement, the New England Patriots claimed that Cam’s absence from training camp and eventual dismissal was due to a “miscommunication” regarding the procedure.
To receive a second opinion on an ailment, Cam State left the camp.
Cam explained to his father, Cecil Newton Sr., in a tell-all video that was uploaded to Cam’s YouTube page, “They granted me clearance to depart.” Newton believes that his dismissal would have occurred even if he hadn’t been in camp.
“Do I believe this would have occurred without my five-day absence from the team?”
It was Cam.
“Honestly, I thought it would happen. Did it make the decision easier? Yes.”
Newton denied rumors that he wouldn’t have served as Mac Jones’ backup quarterback. He believes that the team had begun to gently move Jones aside to make room for him. He claims that the Patriots didn’t want him to endorse Jones, even though he would have done so comfortably:
“Can we be truthful? They let me go because I was going to create a distraction without actually starting the game, which is why. merely my aura. That is both my blessing and my sin. People are engaged and curious when you introduce Cam Newton to your location or brand.
Ian Rapoport thinks that teams aren’t pursuing Cam because they think he can’t serve as a backup. Despite Cam’s claims, Ian thinks he’s just not cut out to be a supporting character. Said, Rapoport:
“I’m not certain that Cam is truly suited to serve as a backup. And he’s such a huge deal that it’s not even his fault. If things don’t work out, you don’t want your backup to have a tremendous, charismatic personality that fans and teammates will be begging for. For example, not everyone is suited to serve as a backup.
