Euphoria has just been deported by Barbie Ferreira. People seem to be angry that her role is being removed from the popular show, and her name is all over the internet.
However, a quick Twitter search of her name reveals that many people are equally happy she is no longer around. And the reason for that is that they consider Ferreira a racist who was eliminated by the show.
Many online claims that the actress has a history of racism. That allegedly occurred when Tumblr was all the rage.
The Racist Past and Tumblr Fame of Barbie Ferreira
According to reports, the story begins in 2016. Before ever earning the Hollywood fame she presently has, Ferreira had a respectable Tumblr following.
As a result, those who knew her or heard about her alleged actions from that time, which was around 2016 or 2017, according to people’s statements, are the ones who are now accusing her of racism.
She allegedly used to make “strange” films of herself consuming pot and frequently used the n-word in her Tumblr posts. She carried out her actions under the alias boredbarbara.
According to screenshots of the aforementioned posts, Ferreira used obscenities inside of quotation marks. She has even been accused of using the r-word, but those allegations do not seem to be as widespread as those of her racism.
Additionally, some Twitter and Reddit users have even claimed that she even pretended to be Black to avoid criticism when she was questioned about using the slurs. According to some reports, she formerly claimed to be half-Black.
But there doesn’t seem to be much evidence to support any of these claims. There is only one tweet that includes a screenshot of the allegedly offensive language, and even it does not identify the user name “boredbarbara.”
Twitter is flooded with positive comments about her leaving Euphoria when it comes to what the internet thinks about this. They are happy that an alleged racist was fired from the program’s cast.
However, not everyone is as furious with her. Many people believe that something like this, from a period, when she was young and the internet was not as pro-cancellation, should not be that big of a concern right now. Some people support her being completely and permanently canceled.
Some have also suggested that these claims be disregarded because there is no supporting proof and all that is available is a screenshot from an account that is in no way related to her. Another reason why people believe she should be pardoned is the fact that she was only a teenager when she wrote those posts.
These tweets have been circulated on Twitter since at least 2020, although their frequency greatly increased when she declared on August 24, 2022, that she was leaving Euphoria. For the first two seasons of the program, she portrayed Kat Hernandez.
Hernandez was the “most special and enigmatic figure,” according to Ferreira in her announcement, and she was bidding him farewell with “very teary eyes.” Her persona served as a representation of sexual freedom and body positivity.
Her departure from the popular show occurs at an odd moment because she is rumored to have gotten into a spat with the producers over her character’s lack of screen time in season two.
