In a fight, CoryxKenshin won’t back down. The Black YouTuber and gamer, who joined the video-sharing site in 2009, has been one of the site’s most popular creators for more than ten years. But he claims that YouTube is now discriminating against him and demonstrating racism.
He posted a video titled “YouTube: Racism and Favoritism” on August 24, 2022, in which he discussed his recent encounters with what he perceived to be racially discriminating behavior from YouTube.

The gamer began by saying, “The claims I am levying against YouTube are highly serious, and I am taking this video extremely seriously,” adding that he would do his best to provide as much “lost context” information as he could.
Additionally, he did not want to be the one to bring up racism or favoritism simply because he was Black. Even still, Cory acknowledged that he had previously dismissed his worries regarding related matters since he did not believe they warranted a lot of attention.
The YouTuber then charged that YouTube was either “picking winners,” racist, or a combination of both. Then, he went into detail about the situation and the evidence he had to support his claims, declaring that he could “no longer let it slip.”
He posted a replay of The Mortuary Assistant on August 18, 2022. The video was age-restricted shortly after it went online for allegedly breaking YouTube’s policy on suicide and self-harm, which he explained in a later video.
Then he watched the recordings of other people playing the same game and posting playthroughs to their YouTube accounts. It turned out that just his video was rated for older audiences.
When he learned this, he appealed the restriction, but it was denied. He even had a YouTube official look at the limitation, who suggested that the video’s concluding segment might be related to the prohibition.
To confirm whether other people’s videos included the passage his rep had mentioned, which concerned a character having mental health issues, Cory claimed to have revisited other people’s videos. He cited Markiplier’s video as an example, noting that it was similar to his and that it was not age-restricted.
CoryxKenshin was shocked by YouTube’s decision after sending Markiplier’s video clip to his rep and then to the policy team. He claimed that he anticipated YouTube to uphold its position and age-restrict Markiplier’s video. But YouTube abolished the restriction on his age.
Markiplier’s video, according to Cory, was used by YouTube to “verify [his] innocence.” After that, he wrote a long email to his YouTube representative explaining his thoughts on the racism and favoritism he believed were present in this circumstance.
To get more information about the situation, he also stated that he would like to meet with the policy team.
He wanted to know three things: whether his video had been reviewed by a human or a bot, who that human was and why they had age-restricted it, and why it had taken Markiplier’s video to get his restriction removed. After about two days, YouTube changed the age restrictions on both Markiplier’s and his video.
He claimed that this was an attempt by YouTube or the policy team to silence him or prevent him from bringing up the subject again. He questioned, “You realize how bad this looks for you, YouTube?” You’re aware of how unfair this seems, right?

After reading the timeline above, Cory admitted that he had been aware of YouTube’s racism and favoritism for a while.
On YouTube, Cory is known for disappearing and reappearing. And each time he returns, he quickly rises to the top of the platform’s trending topics.
But in his experience, he would only hold the top spot for a short period before YouTube would find “some arbitrary issue” to knock him off. He cited the previous time he returned to the platform, when YouTube copyrighted a video of him from 2019, as an example.

He also discussed YouTube Black later in the video, calling the move “condescending and patronizing” to Black creators.
The idea of a separate platform for Black creators, in his opinion, implied that they weren’t talented enough to compete on mainstream YouTube.
“Fake! That’s what it is—a fake! “Near the end of the video, he exclaimed. Additionally, he expressed regret for allowing his feelings to appear in the video when that was not his intention.
Although the creator has a large number of fans and followers, YouTube has not yet released a statement about this.
