Olivia Wilde finally speaks up about her conflict with Shia LaBeouf, which fueled the controversy surrounding her film Don’t Worry, Darling.
Olivia Wilde is refusing to back down. The Don’t Worry Darling filmmaker recently discussed her relationship problems with Shia LaBeouf during an interview with Stephen Colbert on his talk show.
For those who are unaware, LaBeouf was originally slated to play the lead in the upcoming psychological thriller before Harry Styles, who is Wilde’s romantic partner, took the part alongside Florence Pugh.
LaBeouf came out to clarify the situation and provided proof that he was the one who withdrew from working on the movie after Wilde said she had sacked him from the job due to his hard work ethic.
However, Wilde is reiterating her claim in a new interview, asserting that LaBeouf handed her an “ultimatum” to select between him or Florence Pugh.
LaBeouf previously disclosed that he wanted to practice the scenes but Pugh had her objections to the notion, thus it appears that things did not work out between the two erstwhile leads.
According to Page Six, the Booksmart director stated, “We had to replace Shia. He’s a great actor, but it just wasn’t going to work, she admitted, adding, “When he gave me the choice of, you know, him or Florence, I chose Florence.”
That was him feeling he was going away and me feeling like we were moving on without him, Wilde said in response to LaBeouf’s assertion that she nearly begged him to take the job.
The director of the movie, Wilde said, “I tried to mediate a problem between people early in the process of creating the film to try to see whether they could work together amicably.”
In the end, Wilde was forced to make the painful choice: “I was given an ultimatum once it was evident that it was not a tenable working partnership. I’m glad I made the actress choice I did.
