When Jimmy Kimmel fronts Hollywood’s most significant event in the spring of 2014, it will be his third time hosting the Oscars.
The celebrity will be hoping for less commotion than the previous year when Will Smith smacked the host Chris Rock.
Before the Oscars spent three years without a host, Kimmel took over in 2017 and 2018, the year of the envelope gate scandal.
Although this year’s first full event following the pandemic saw a little improvement, Oscars ratings have declined in recent years.
Kimmel stated in a statement:
“It may be a fantastic honor or a trap to be asked to host the Oscars for a third time.
In any case, I appreciate the Academy for reaching out to me so soon after everyone else had declined.
Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner, the executive producers and showrunners of the Oscars expressed their happiness at Jimmy’s hat trick on this international platform.
They exclaimed,
“We know he’ll be humorous and ready for anything!”
The glitzy occasion will take place on March 12 next year. As it announced Kimmel’s comeback, the Academy tweeted: “Welcome back!” to the talk show host.
