Eric Weinberg, who worked as an executive producer and writer on the popular US comedy series Scrubs, has pleaded not guilty to multiple counts of sexual assault. The charges against him include both first and second-degree assault.
After making an appearance in court in Los Angeles on Tuesday, the defendant, who is 62 years old, was denied bail by the judge.
He is being accused of sexual assault on 18 separate occasions, all of which he claims are false.
It is alleged that Mr. Weinberg “relied on his Hollywood credentials” to entice young ladies to participate in picture assignments with him, where he then molested them.
The allegations against him include three counts of rape using force in addition to six counts of sexual penetration using force.
They are based on occurrences that allegedly occurred involving five different women between the years 2014 and 2019.
Scrubs is an American television series that aired from 2001 to 2010 and was nominated for two primetime Emmy Awards. The show is centered on a medical facility in the United States and stars Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke.
Mr. Weinberg has also worked on the television shows Californication and Anger Management, both of which air in the United States.
The office of the District Attorney for Los Angeles County claims that in 2014 he pretended to be a photographer when he approached two different ladies in public places and told them he was a photographer. After they returned to his place, it is said that he sexually assaulted them there.
In 2017, the defendant is accused of bringing another woman back to his home and then sexually abusing her there. He is also accused of doing this to the first victim.
In two other events that took place in 2018 and 2019, Mr. Weinberg is also accused of sexually assaulting two different women.
On November 15th, he is scheduled to appear in court once more.
