After being charged with six counts of sexually abusing a woman, singer Rex Orange County is going to stand trial for the charges.
Alexander O’Connor, better known as the chart-topping singer-songwriter, made an appearance at Southwark Crown Court in London on Monday. O’Connor is originally from Surrey.
In response to the accusation that he had intentionally touched a sexually explicit area without the victim’s consent, he entered a not-guilty plea, and the date of his trial was set for January 3.
In March of this year, Mr. O’Connor’s third album recorded in a studio debuted at number one in the UK.
In a statement that was released on his behalf, it was stated that Alex was “shocked by the charges,” all of which he denies and that he is “looking forward to clearing his name in court.”
Because legal action is still being taken, he is unable to make any further comments at this time.
According to a claim that was published in The Sun, the alleged assaults took place in early June in a taxi and at his house in London.
The following month, the singer announced on his website that he would not be performing any of the tour dates scheduled for Europe, Australia, or New Zealand because “due to unanticipated personal circumstances, I am having to spend some time at home this year.”
Rex Orange is free until the outcome of the trial after posting bail under no conditions.
