Matt Hancock, a former health secretary, received £45,000 for participating in the Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins reality competition on Channel 4.
The payment, which was made public on the register of MPs’ financial interests, is far less than the £400,000 he is said to have received for ITV’s I’m A Celebrity.
In a subsequent edition of the registry, he will be required to disclose his ITV fee.
Before taking off for the Australian bush, he recorded the Channel 4 show; it will air the following year.
On Sunday, when he finished third, Mr. Hancock’s divisive appearance on I’m A Celebrity came to an end. After a public vote, football player Jill Scott was named queen of the jungle.
The West Suffolk MP’s membership in the Conservative Party is still on hold as a result of his absence from the party for I’m A Celebrity.
Matt Hancock has promised to contribute a portion of his fee to charity and claimed that he entered the TV jungle to “display what I am like as a person.”
However, he has drawn criticism from all sides of the political aisle, with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak expressing his “extreme disappointment” in the action.
With Mr. Sunak as prime minister, Mr. Hancock assured his fellow campers that his appearance on the program was justified and added, “Rishi’s fantastic, he’ll be OK.”
However, according to the registry of members’ interests, he joined the Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins cast during Liz Truss’ brief launch.
Between 24 September and 8 October, he worked 80 hours on the program, which pits famous people against one another in a series of taxing military drills.
The Conservative Party conference was held in Birmingham from October 2 to 5, during the time that Parliament was out of session beginning on September 24.
