His career in football
In an interview with Vista, Kolo Mauni reflected on his previous football experiences. He claimed that he first took the examinations in Serie C and subsequently switched to Serie B. Since he had nothing left over after the U17 Nationals and didn’t want to continue, he was more than happy to move to Serie B.
Either he wanted to go or take action. His preparation was going well, but his father didn’t agree. He took the Serie C exam in his first year and the Serie B exam in his second year. Once, his father called and asked what was going on. He was questioned extensively about the contracts and other matters, but he was completely ignorant.
He refused to go home when his father urged him to do so because he insisted on staying put despite the fact that his school was about to start. Following the call, he cried the entire night while wondering what he would do because he believed football was over.
He went back home and started having meetings with his company. More often than not, his father would converse with his agents.
Before joining Nantes’ development program at the age of 15 and signing a professional contract with the club in 2018, he played for a variety of Paris-based teams. Kolo Mauni claimed that at the age of 17, he was nothing. He was merely exercising and focusing on his parents and the agency.
Kolo Mauni has recently been added to Didier Deschamps’ World Cup 2022 roster. He replaced RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku, who was forced to withdraw from the match after suffering an injury in practice. He was requested on November 16, 2022, to take the place of the hurt Nkunku. In September 2022, Kolo Mauni received his first call-up to the national team for two UEFA Nations League games.
He described the emotional moment when he got his first call-up to France during an interview. He claimed that although he did not anticipate seeing his name on Deschamps’ list, he turned on the television to watch the news conference after learning from his brother and friends that there had been reports that he would be chosen.
In fact, when he heard his name, he was startled. While speaking with his brother on the phone, he promised to meet up with him later to call his father. According to him, his mother was crying because she was so happy for him.
Since joining Frankfurt in March 2022, he has taken part in 14 games. He distinguished himself as one of the promising young players in 14 Bundesliga games, contributing 11 assists and five goals. Many important teams are interested in him as a result of his performance.
Markus Kroshe, the sports director at Frankfurt, said in an interview that they do not have any intentions to release him next summer since they are the right atmosphere for him and that sticking around will help him develop in the future.
