Corrections officers claim that Ricky Dubose, 29, of Georgia, who was just given the death penalty for the murders of two prison guards during an attempted escape five years ago, committed himself in jail.

According to reports, Ricky Dubose hanged himself. Sheriff of Putnam County Howard R. Sill claims
“He committed suicide. In the same length of time, it took him to murder Billue and Monica, he might have committed suicide. It doesn’t take very long to finish. If someone decides to do it, it might occur in a matter of seconds.
The sheriff stated that personnel of the Georgia Department of Corrections confirmed Dubose’s death. A press release issued on Sunday did not mention the cause of death.
Death of Ricky Dubose in a jail
According to a Department of Corrections press statement, corrections officers discovered Ricky Dubose unconscious in his cell at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson at about 4:45 Sunday afternoon. The guards started to assist and asked for medical aid. At 5:56 p.m., the coroner at the jail pronounced Dubose dead.
“Life-saving measures were conducted after calling the emergency services. At 5:56 p.m., Dubose was pronounced deceased at the institution by the coroner. The GDC and GBI are working together to initiate an investigation into the fatality as is customary.
Even though I had only known Ricky for a little over a year, to all of us, this is incredibly dreadful.
In a prison transport truck in June 2017, Dubose and a fellow prisoner named Donnie Rowe overpowered two guards named Curtis Billue and Christopher Monica.
Dubose used one of their weapons to kill them. After robbing a bystander, he and Rowe took off, eventually landing in Tennessee.
The prisoners were reportedly handcuffed at the time, and their belongings and clothing were removed, according to Bedford County Sheriff Austin Swing. Finally, the fugitives turned themselves up. According to law enforcement, they turned themselves into a local person rather than the authorities.
Dubose received the death punishment since he was the actual shooter, even though both people were tried and found guilty independently. Rowe received a life sentence without the possibility of parole. In court, Dubose’s counsel claimed that Rowe had some control over their client’s decisions and that their client was intellectually challenged.
“Yes, Ricky did shoot at people. However, you already know that Donnie was the one who drove and gave him the weapons.
The prosecution, T. Wright Barksdale, called Dubose “a cunning, determined crook.” The Billue and Monica victims’ families praised the verdict and penalty given to Dubose.
