Samira was born in London, the capital of the United Kingdom. The BBC’s first female Asian correspondent is Samira Ahmed. During this time, Ahmed worked as an editor for Isis and Union publications. In 1990, she began her career at the BBC as a news apprentice.
Later in her career, she worked as a news journalist, a reporter on Newsnight and Today, and a presenter on BBC World Service and BBC News 24. Samira worked there until December 1997. Samira Ahmed covered the O.J. Simpson trial for BBC12’s Los Angeles reporter shortly after her marriage.
