A well-known Cuban singer-songwriter and guitarist named Pablo Milanes passed away on November 21 at the age of 79. Although his officials confirmed his departure, they kept the cause of death a secret.

Milanes was receiving treatment for blood cancer, though it’s not known if that condition contributed to his demise. On social media, Cuba’s Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz paid tribute to him and lamented his passing.
Along with Silvio Rodriguez and Noel Nicola, Milanes is credited with inventing the Cuban Nueva trova. Yolanda, Yo Me Quedo, Amo Esta Isla, and other songs and albums were among those he released.

The singer was admitted to the University Hospital Complex of La Coruna in June 2014 due to renal failure. His wife Nancy Perez donated the kidney, which he received through a kidney transplant. At the time, reports claimed that Milanes and Perez were both recovering well from the treatment.
The continuous necrosis in the head of the femur, which caused him excruciating pain, is claimed to have necessitated 22 procedures over the length of Pablo’s life.
When doctors found an umbilical hernia in March 2012 that might have caused peritonitis, he underwent another operation. In addition to these medical problems, there have been several health-related rumors over the years.
Pablo Milanes, who was born on February 24th, 1943, moved to Havana in 1950 along with his family. He attended at the La Habana Municipal Conservatory, where he debuted in 1956. At the age of 15, he began performing in bohemian musical settings.
Milanes, who backed the Cuban Revolution, was imprisoned in Camaguey’s UMAP agricultural labor camp in 1965. He was imprisoned at La Cabana after fleeing in 1967, and he wasn’t released until the prison camp was shut down.
He joined the Grupo de Experimentation Sonora in 1969, a group of aspiring artists, the majority of whom later founded the Nueva trova. Before releasing his debut album of original music in 1976, Milanes collaborated with several performers from Cuba, Latin America, and Spain.
Milanes was regarded as one of the few vocalists who upheld the historical origins of Cuban music while still being open to musical influences from other contemporary traditions, such as blues and Brazilian music.
He was inspired by artists like Lorenzo Hierrezuelo, Benny More, Maria Teresa Vera, Lucho Gatica, Johann Sebastian Bach, and others and created poetry for Cuban poets like Jose Marti and Nicolas Guillen.

After moving to Spain, he launched attacks against several facets of the Cuban government. He talked about how his connection with Silvio Rodriguez was significantly impacted by the fall of the Cuban Revolution. Pablo is survived by his wife and their two sons.
