Then, in 2003, he went to Mexico with Leland and Tim Chapman to find and capture Andrew Luster, a convicted rapist who had fled the country while being tried for drugging and raping numerous women and had been found guilty in absentia on 86 counts. Similarly, they discovered him and detained him in Puerto Vallarta.

The Mexican government detained all four of them after they returned to California. After his identity was confirmed, Luster was brought back to California to finish his 125-year term. However, bail was not granted to the Chapmans who were initially imprisoned in Mexico.

Fortunately, they received bail later and were able to leave the country on the counsel of their attorney. In a similar vein, bounty hunting is prohibited in Mexico, so the Chapmans turned to bail jumping. Additionally, the Chapman family overnight rose to fame on a global scale after Luster’s arrest and trial. After that, Duane had an appearance on the TV show “Take This Job” before starring with his family in “Dog the Bounty Hunter” on A&E from 2004 until 2012.

Chapman, Beth, and their family later made an appearance in the show’s spinoff, “Dog and Beth: On the Hunt,” which ran on CMT for three seasons from 21 April 2013 to 22 August 2015.
