After being severely hurt by his snow plow, American actor Jeremy Renner has expressed gratitude to his supporters. Renner posted a photo of his battered face to Instagram and wrote that he was “too messed up now to type.”
Following the collision outside his Reno, Nevada, home on Sunday, the Avengers star was flown to the hospital.
According to the local sheriff, Renner was run over by his snow plow, which weighs at least 14,330lb (6.5 tonnes), or three times as much as a car.
His spokesperson reported on Monday that he had orthopedic injuries as well as traumatic chest trauma. He was receiving intensive care at the time and was in a stable but serious state.
Tuesday night, Renner, 51, posted a photo to Instagram from his hospital bed. He wrote: “I appreciate all of your nice messages. I’m currently too messed up to type. But I send you all my love.”
According to Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam, the incident took place after a new year’s blizzard dumped around 3 feet of new snow on the ground.
According to the sheriff, a family member driving Renner’s automobile became trapped in the snow close to his home. Renner successfully towed the automobile free with his snow plow.
The snow plow then started to move when it was empty as he exited to speak to his relative.
According to Mr. Balaam, Renner was run over while attempting to get back into the driver’s seat to stop the vehicle from moving.
According to him, the PistenBully weighs at least 14,330 lbs. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, a car typically weighs 4,289 lbs (2 tonnes).
Mr. Balaam stated that an eyewitness described seeing Mr. Renner get into the PistenBully and not seeing him again until the PistenBully came to a stop in a snowdrift in front of his house.
The sheriff noted that Renner always uses his snow plow to clear local roads and is a “wonderful neighbor.”
He has been very giving to everyone in the town, and he is one of those people who most of the time goes unnoticed while doing so, but he has had a significant impact on our community.
“Hard as nails”
Following Renner’s most recent health update, several Hollywood celebrities, including several of his former Marvel co-stars, sent their good wishes on social media.
Chris Evans, who plays Captain America, left the following comment on the actor’s Instagram post: “tenacious as nails I love you, pal.”
Chris Pratt, a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, said he was “still praying for you, brother,” the WandaVision actor Paul Bettany said, adding, “Love you mate. I’m sending you healing and love.”
There was “lots love out there for you bro,” talk show host Jimmy Fallon told Renner, as did Vanessa Hudgens, Heidi Klum, and Orlando Bloom in their notes of support.
Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor, said: “friend, get well soon. I’m sending you my love!” but two-time Thor director Taika Waititi just said, “My brother, I love you.”
In eight states, the new year’s snowstorm claimed the lives of at least 60 individuals. The rally driving champion Ken Block was said to have perished when his snowmobile flipped at his Utah ranch a day after Renner’s death.
Renner, a two-time Oscar nominee, is best known for playing Clint Barton/Hawkeye in the Marvel film and television universe. He appeared in multiple Avengers movies and the spin-off Hawkeye television series.
For his performance in The Hurt Locker in 2008 and best-supporting actor in The Town in 2010, he received Academy Award nominations.
