Both Reese’s wife and her lover, a well-known minister at a nearby Baptist church, were found guilty of killing him. The couple was killed at their Banks Street residence in the early hours of a February evening after they had returned from church and dinner at Milo’s. Cindy Reese is accused of shooting Michael in the head and staging the incident to look like a robbery.
About a month into the investigation, Cindy and her ex-boyfriend Jeffrey Brown were detained and accused of murdering Michael. Even the upcoming episode, The Devil Went to Church, will delve into the murder that was premeditated and motivated by the wife’s desire to begin a new life with her partner. 1) Cindy Reese, Michael Reese’s wife, had an affair after a short period of marriage.
Following the suspected suicide of the former’s ex-spouse, Cindy and Michael Reese got married in 2009. Prior to the murder, when it was discovered that Cindy was having an affair with Jeffrey Brown, the senior pastor of the nearby Baptist church where she served as a music minister, the couple’s marriage appeared to be perfect.
In 2013, although both Cindy and Jeffrey were still wed to their respective husbands, they started dating. During that time, the Brown and Reese families were close. Although there were ups and downs in their relationship, it was reported that they had combined their resources and had plans to build a future together.
2) Following Michael’s headshot, Cindy went grocery shopping.
Sources claim that before leaving their home to get groceries, Cindy Reese shot her husband in the head at close range. After arriving at her house, she set up the scene so that it appeared to be a robbery before calling 911 to report her husband’s passing. When the police came, they found a Piggly Wiggly bag inside the house that included ham and orange juice.
3) Michael Reese’s wife reportedly said she wanted to kill him.
When Cindy Reese was imprisoned, her then-boyfriend Jeffrey Brown made an effort to place the blame on her. He claimed that she had frequently expressed the wish to push Michael aside. Facts regarding Cindy that Brown brought up in court testimony included Cindy’s history with murder plots against her spouse. If Cindy were to be convicted of the murder, he claimed she would have threatened to poison or shoot Michael Reese and then claim she was insane.

In order to make the killing appear to be a robbery, she handed her lover the murder weapon and utilized “stolen” items from their home.
Jeffrey claimed that he gave away the.38 revolver and gave the jewelry to a woman on Pinson’s Highway 75. Cindy denied all of the charges, saying that she had met Jeffrey and given him $15 for gas.
5) Cindy doesn’t appear to be concerned about Michael Reese’s health.
Cindy displayed almost no concern for her husband’s condition, according to one of the detectives who stepped up at the crime scene after the 911 call.
According to the police, she never asked if Michael was still alive or had passed away. Cindy, meanwhile, claimed that because she was put right away in a police car, she couldn’t remember the conversations she had with the authorities. She also stated that she had post-traumatic stress disorder, which she was given a diagnosis for following the passing of her first husband.
