More details regarding Carlos Santana

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Carlos Augusto Santana Alves became well-known as a member of the Santana Blues Band. Carlos has been the sole permanent member of Santana since its founding in 1966, despite the band going through numerous lineup changes since then.

The band’s rise to stardom was sparked by the release of Supernatural, their 18th studio album. The group broke a record in 2000 by taking home six Grammy Awards in a single evening.

Santana’s music featured lyrical, blues-based lyrics that were contrasted with Latin American and African rhythms that were created using percussion instruments that were hardly ever used in rock.

The late 1990s saw a popularity boom for Carlos. He came in at number 20 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the top 100 guitarists of 2015. In addition, he and his band were elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. He has also been honored with ten Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammy Awards.
