Instagram model Gena Tew just shared an update with all of her admirers after announcing a few days ago that she had been diagnosed with HIV and was fighting it.
The model told a tabloid that she had undergone poor eye surgery and was now completely blind in one eye. Gena underwent surgery to regain her vision in Memphis, Tennessee, in August 2021.
Her restored vision at the time only lasted five days before her eye illness resurfaced. According to the model’s statement to TMZ, the disastrous treatment left her eye blind, and all she can see is total darkness.
She also related how she became ill after taking all of the prescription drugs given to her by doctors. The model also said that doctors are thinking about yet another operation. Gena Tew, though, asserted that she hasn’t made up her mind yet.
Though it has been a while since Gena Tew discovered she had HIV, the latest news is encouraging because doctors say there has been a considerable improvement in a number of areas. Gena can now use a walker to help her walk. Additionally, the woman has put on weight.
She used to be 90 pounds, but today she weighs 105 pounds. Gena Tew started her own GoFundMe campaign shortly after being diagnosed to raise money so she could move closer to her family.
Gena believed that staying close to her family would speed her recovery. The model has received about $16,570 from 518 donors as of this writing on GoFundMe.

Gena Tew provided an update on October 23, 2022, indicating that she had been able to buy a new house and pay for her medical expenses thanks to the contributions.

“I’ve had a couple free tattoos, so it might have been a dirty needle,” the person said. Do any of those people look familiar to me? No. Did I speak at the time those things happened? No. because I was young, stupid, and inexperienced.
She also said in the video that she told everyone of her love partners about her sickness so they could get checked out as well. None of Gena’s partners, though, have tested positive so yet.
