When was Tom Parker diagnosed with glioblastoma?

Tom Parker disclosed his glioblastoma (stage 4) diagnosis in an interview with OK! Magazine in October 2020. The American Association of Neurological Surgeons classifies glioblastoma as a “rapidly developing and aggressive” tumor.

It has the potential to kill a patient within six months if left untreated. The Brain Tumor Charity reports that even with treatment, a person diagnosed with a brain tumor has a 12- to 18-month survival rate.

Following two seizures in July 2020, Parker underwent a battery of testing. According to BBC News, examinations found that he had a brain tumor. In October of that year, Parker stated on Instagram that he and his family will fight the illness to the end.

“We don’t want your sorrow; we just want your love and positivity. Together, we’ll raise awareness about this terrible disease and seek every conceivable remedy.”

Symptoms of glioblastoma include seizures, chronic headaches, vomiting, impaired or double vision, mood or personality changes, appetite loss, and speech problems.

According to the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University, only approximately 14,000 cases of glioblastomas are diagnosed annually in the United States.

Glioblastomas represent only one in every five brain tumors diagnosed. The precise cause of this health issue is unknown.

A concise account of Tom Parker’s involvement with The Wanted

In 2009, Tom Parker, Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness, and Nathan Sykes co-founded The Wanted. All Time Low, the group’s debut single, skyrocketed to prominence in 2010.

After signing with Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande’s manager, Scooter Braun, the band topped the UK charts with Glad You Came from their second album, Battleground. Heart Vacancy, Lose My Mind, and Chasing the Sun are more songs by the band.

In 2014, the band announced an indefinite sabbatical due to the member’s decision to pursue solo endeavors. In addition to his solo career, Parker worked as a DJ and teamed with Richard Rawson on the song “Fireflies.”

He debuted on Celebrity MasterChef in the United Kingdom in 2015 but was ousted in the semi-finals. Parker replaced Tina Hobley on Channel 4’s The Jump and completed the winter sports competition season in third place.
