Jacques O’Neill will compete on Love Island UK in 2022, bringing “laughter” and “good energy” to the ITV dating competition. The show disclosed that he was the most recent participant seeking love. This time, he will confront his past in an effort to recover his ex-girlfriend, Gemma Owens.
The popular reality series, which premiered on ITV 2 on Monday, June 6, 2022, at 9 p.m., saw 11 islanders enter the villa and remain in the hopes of finding the love of their life.
Initially, the participants would be partnered with various islanders to assist them in finding romance, and any who remained single after the coupling would be dismissed from the program.

The 23-year-old competitor is a Cumbrian professional rugby player. He dated Gemma Owens, the daughter of former Liverpool striker Michael Owens, who is presently a contestant on Love Island UK 2022. In the preview for the previous episode, Gemma mentioned:
Oh no! It’s my former boyfriend!
Jacques and Gemma divorced last year, although they supposedly split into good terms. The latter disclosed to fellow participant Liam Llewellyn (who left the island last week) that his ex-boyfriend and her father, the England ace, were close due to their shared passion for the sport.
According to a source, the exes still had “unfinished business” and feelings for one another, which could make it impossible for them to stay at the villa together and be simply friends.
The source continued, saying:
They ended their relationship because they were both preoccupied with work. Gemma was frequently absent for dressage competitions, whereas Jacques was devoted to his rugby career. However, there is no animosity between them. It simply was not the right time.”
Jacques said on the television network when asked why he was unmarried and why he was on Love Island UK:
“I broke with my ex and starting seeing someone else. I was focused so hard on my rugby career until I got hurt. I believe it must be the right person at the right moment. But I recently expressed to my mum my desire for a daughter. And I am now ready to settle down.”

Prior to joining the Castleford Tigers, Jacques began his career with the Askam ARLFC. The applicant has also played for Leigh Centurions and Halifax in the Betfred Championship on loan and under dual registration.
The Castleford Tigers published a statement on social media and in a press release shortly before the Love Island UK participant announced his debut on the show:
“The Castleford Tigers can confirm that Jacques O’Neill has been released from his contract so that he can pursue other options.”
Fans will witness Jacques enter the villa, to Gemma’s surprise, who was plucked from Davide Sanclimenti by Luca Bish on Friday during the recoupling.
However, the rugby player assured the audience that he would not let the opposition impede him from attaining his goals. The candidate for Love Island UK stated that he “wasn’t arsed” about stepping on anyone’s toes and would do as he pleased. As said by Jacques:
“I believe I’m a keeper.” Do we not all consider ourselves attractive? I’m dependable, considerate, and pleasant. I will look after a loved one to the best of my ability.”
Jacques also expressed his desire to become a parent within a few years. He said:
“In two or three years, I would become a mother. I believe I’d also be great with children; they’d be adorable, wouldn’t they?”
Love Island UK will be filmed in Majorca Villa, Spain, with no outside contact for the contestants. They will use their time to find a suitable partner, with the danger of elimination if they remain single following the recoupling tasks. The winning duo will get a £50,000 grand prize.
