During a street race against former MLB pitcher Scott Erickson, the 58-year-old woman from Hidden Hills, California allegedly ran over two children aged 11 and 8 with her Mercedes. Rebecca Grossman, a wealthy socialite, and philanthropist from Los Angeles pled not guilty to killing two children in a hit-and-run in 2020.
Rebecca Grossman was quoted in a Fox 11 article as saying:
“I was driving when my airbag unexpectedly deployed. Someone needs to inform me about these children. I understand that children were involved.”
Grossman was driving home in Westlake Village, Los Angeles, after dinner when the tragedy occurred. At the time, she was traveling 81 mph. According to the footage of the event and the investigation, Grossman may have been intoxicated.

On Friday, June 3, 2020, Rebecca Grossman appeared in court for a fatal hit-and-run that occurred on September 29, 2020. Grossman was driving too fast in her Mercedes when she struck Mark, 11, and Jacob Iskander, 9.
After striking them, Grossman allegedly dragged one of the boys 100 feet on the bonnet of her vehicle. As she engaged the brakes, the toddler fell to the ground. Grossman, instead of checking on the youngster, ran over his corpse once more.
The victim’s mother, Nancy Iskander, claimed that she attempted to stop Grossman, but it was too late. Grossman’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, claims that Grossman was unable to apply the brakes promptly because the Iskander boys were on “roller skates and a skateboard.”
This is what Buzbee had to say about it:
“The prosecution’s insistence on making this into a murder case by charging my client, a pillar of this community, with murder is nothing more than a transparent attempt to coerce her into pleading guilty. Such maneuvering impedes progress in this crucial situation. We will not tolerate Rebecca’s intimidation in this manner.”
He proceeded:
“The city was often pressed to enhance and secure the crossing.” The darkness, lack of illumination, and color of the guys’ apparel prevented my customer from spotting them that evening.
Buzbee attributed their deaths to a “poorly marked, exposed, and dark” crossing. Rebecca Grossman is charged with two charges of criminal murder, two counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, and one count of fatal felony hit-and-run.
In the meantime, former MLB pitcher Erikson has been charged with careless driving. Despite the severity of the allegations, she was reportedly released on bail two days later.
