Jeopardy! this week’s episode has a new cast of contestants, and it aired on HBO on April 4. The reigning champion, Nell Klugman, competed against Camron Conners and Sarah Cahalan, two newcomers. Unfortunately, Conners won the championship before the show’s end, so Klugman was unable to defend it. A social studies teacher at a secondary school is the new champion.
Californian Conners, who hails from Rancho San Margarita, won the competition and took home $24,200. He did not correctly answer the Final Jeopardy question, yet he still won more money than the other contestants.

The Final Jeopardy question is one of the rounds that viewers look forward to the most. After the presenter offers a hint, the three participants must correctly answer the question or risk losing some of their monetary prizes. If they do not correctly guess the question, the wagering amount is deducted from the prize money, so they have nothing to lose if they do win.
On Monday, “Current Television” was the topic of the final round of questions. The show’s host, Mayim Bialik, gave a hint:
The family name at the center of this tale is derived from the French word for “King,” therefore it seems appropriate.
The correct response was “Succession,” which was offered by Nell Klugman and Sarah Cahalan. Conners, though, didn’t speculate and merely wrote:
“What are they exactly?”
The round cost him $400. Due to his improper response, his reward money was reduced from $24,600 to $24,200.
Who was Camron Conners’ competition?
On the night, Conners competed against reigning champion Nell Klugman. The Brooklyn, New York, museum educator won the competition on the April 1 broadcast. Her daily total was $24,401. Klugman took part in the most recent episode and won $1,400 despite giving the wrong response three out of seven times. She competed against Sarah Cahalan, a news assistant, and Conners, a high school social studies teacher. The latter is from Logansport, Indiana, and after correctly answering all eight of her questions, she was awarded $5,400.
In the Double Jeopardy round, Klugman’s prize money dropped to $1,200 while Calahan’s prize money increased to $9,000. The women lost to Conners in the competition series even though they answered properly in the last round. Jeopardy! is a game show that started on NBC in 1964 for those who are unfamiliar. According to the official summary of the series:
The victor earns the title and the prize money after the presenter assesses the competitors’ knowledge on a variety of topics. The next episode of the Emmy-winning show will air on Tuesday, April 5, after Monday’s HBO broadcast.
