Season 1 of Love at First Lie just ended. Many lovers and liars appeared on the show as they competed for the prize by either portraying their true love on screen or lying through their teeth.
Riquelme, one of the show’s contestants, spoke with Sportskeeda exclusively about life after the show. Josh and his girlfriend, Monica, were the show’s second couple to be eliminated. They did, however, return in the finale to assist in the selection of the winner, along with the other eliminated couples.
The reality star stated in an interview that the show piqued his interest because he could be on it with his girlfriend.
He stated, ”
“I’ve always enjoyed and found reality television fascinating. This show piqued my interest because it was a reality dating show in which I could compete with Monica, my girlfriend. Because so many shows these days focus on singles, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Josh appeared on MTV’s Love at First Lie with his girlfriend Monica, but their time on the show was cut short. The show premiered on October 13, 2022, and ended on December 27, 2022. All of the eliminated couples, including Josh and Monica, returned in the final episode of the first season to determine a winner.
They were the second pair to leave. When asked why they left the program so early, Josh expressed dissatisfaction because they didn’t get to talk to all of the other couples as much as they would have liked.
He went on to say that they would have advanced further in the game if they had spent more time with the other couples. Josh is certain that everything happens for a reason, and that they entered the house to be themselves.
He continued, saying:
“Who knows what decisions we would have made that we would not have been proud of if we had gone further into the game?”
Josh said, “In a sense, it felt nice” that the others didn’t get to increase the amount of money in the pot at the time of their elimination on Love at First Lie. He claimed that the experience would benefit the other cast members. He went on to say that he tried to warn the others to “mind their backs,” but it was ineffective because lovers kept being removed, leaving the pot constant in the middle of the game.
The Love at First Lie actor went on to praise his co-stars, naming Steven and Tom as his favorite wild card pair. He explained that it was because they were energetic and brought a lot of fun to the house.
Josh went on to say that the game was won “fair and square” by the winners, Stephanie and Arabella. The Love at First Lie contestant stated that they were put through several trials while inside the house, and coming out as victors together is a huge accomplishment.
He continued by saying that he:
“I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds for them both, especially now that they’ve won $175,000.”
The couple is still in contact with the people they met on the reality show and maintains contact with one another. He hopes they can all meet up one day. Tori Spellings, the host of Love at First Lie, was actually quite lovely and welcoming. He went on to say that she’s a lot more relatable now, and he’s overjoyed to have reconnected with her after filming.
Josh Riquelme is a “big believer” in manifestation, so much so that he announced on Twitter last year that he’d be on a reality show by the end of the year, which he did. He mentioned the power of manifestation:
“OMG! I strongly believe in the law of attraction. Much of what has come to light in my life has come as a result of speaking into reality and remaining consistent.”
He continued, saying:
“When combined with hard work, the manifestation can be quite spectacular!” If you haven’t already, I recommend you do so because there’s nothing better than crossing things off your list.”
