The Korean news site Hankook Ilbo reported on February 10 that Hellbound actor Yoo Ah-in had tested positive for marijuana. The actor from Seoul Vibe, who is being investigated for using Propofol illegally, tested positive for marijuana but negative for Propofol.
Yoo Ah-in testing positive, according to a medical expert who spoke to Hankook Ilbo on the condition of anonymity, indicates he has been ingesting it for a long time because Propofol leaves the body within four days of consumption. “Marijuana’s THC does not emerge on tests 7-10 days after it has been consumed. He appears to have recently consumed marijuana”.

Yoo Ah-in was forced to take a urine test, which revealed that he was high on marijuana. Marijuana is difficult to detect in a urine test after 7-10 days, indicating that he used the substance recently. When contacted, United Artists Agency (UAA) declined to confirm whether or not the actor tested positive for marijuana. They pretended to be unaware of the ongoing media allegations about his drug use.
They confirmed that they would fully cooperate with the police investigation and that Yoo Ah-in would write a strong statement explaining his position and side of the story.
“This is the first time we’ve heard of (Yoo Ah In) testing positive for marijuana. Aside from that, our position remains the same as stated previously. We will vigorously assist the police investigation while also actively working on what may be explained.”
Police recently questioned the Hellbound actor for allegedly ingesting Propofol, a sleep and anesthetic medicine that is illegal in South Korea except for surgical treatments. When taken in small doses, it acts as a sedative, causing the user to become semi-conscious.
Among the side effects is pain at the injection site, nausea, coughing, hypotension, intense itching, hypertension, and a tingling sensation. At the time, his agency stated that they (the agency and Yoo Ah-in) would fully cooperate with the police investigation. Several media outlets report that the Korean police and medical authorities have been following and monitoring Yoo Ah-in for some time.
The Chicago Typewriter actor was summoned by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency a few days ago for an alleged violation of the Narcotics Control Act. The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety had requested that police investigate Yoo Ah-suspected in’s drug use. He is also prohibited from leaving the country.
He is suspected of ingesting Propofol on a regular basis since 2021 after being warned about purchasing the aforementioned medication from several hospitals. The Hellbound actress was one of 51 people on the Korean government’s drug-addiction watch list. Authorities are expanding their investigation by inspecting and analyzing hospitals in Seoul’s Gangnam and Yongsan districts.
Yoo Ah’s current and future projects are said to be jeopardized
The market believes that the actor’s current and future ventures are jeopardized because he tested positive for marijuana. The actor is best known for his roles in films and dramas such as Burning, Hellbound, Chicago Typewriter, and Seoul Vibe, all of which received critical acclaim.
He will appear in Netflix’s Goodbye Earth, The Match, and Hi.5 this year. His projects are said to be on hold as a result of the dispute. Netflix, on the other hand, has not yet decided on a release date or filming schedule and has not responded to media inquiries.
