When she is suffering from dementia, the American actress Edie McClurg is accused of elder abuse by a man who claims to be her “long-time friend.”
According to court documents acquired by TMZ, officials for the conservatorship of the Ferris Bueller actress said that a man named Michael L. Ramos identified himself as her friend and attempted to marry her outside of Los Angeles.
The court has ordered the man in question to abandon his plans to marry the 77-year-old actress.
Doctors believe Ramos, who lives with McClurg, is unemployed and has “finagled” his way into Edie McClurg’s life despite his knowledge of her mental health.
According to the Mayo Clinic, dementia is a word used to describe a combination of symptoms that impair a person’s memory, thinking, and reasoning skills to the point where they interfere with daily activities.
The “friend” of Edie McClurg is also accused of attacking her caregiver.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Ramos sexually abused McClurg’s caretaker, and the Los Angeles Police Department has opened an investigation.
The caregiver further asserted and expressed fear that the man, who is not in a romantic relationship with Edie, may have sexually abused her, but she is unaware of the incident due to her dementia.
A judge gave Michael Ramos permission to live with McClurg for companionship, but her conservatorship counsel has requested that he be removed from her residence.
Monday, Angelique Cabral went before the California Superior Court in Los Angeles County on behalf of the seasoned actress.
The protection order issued by McClurg’s attorney against Michael L. Ramos was accepted, as reported by People. On August 25, Ramos is set to appear in court for the next hearing.
The actress’s family filed a petition for conservatorship in February 2019, alleging that she was living with a verbally abusive man who was attempting to seize her possessions by tricking her into signing legal documents.
The New York Post reports that the couple met in 2012 or 2013. Edie McClurg began her acting career on the television series Tony Orlando and Dawn in 1974.
She has since appeared in numerous films and television shows, such as The Kallikaks, The Richard Pryor Show, and Oh, God! Book II, Harper Valley P.T.A., Pandemonium, No Soap, Radio, Madame’s Place, The Dukes, The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries, The Jeffersons, The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo, Small Wonder, Snorks, Valerie, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, and Back to School are among her most well-known roles.
She was recently seen as Nurse Jane in the drama film Eye Upon Walking by Timothy Zwica.
