Hugh Jackman believes it is inevitable that Australia will become a republic in the foreseeable future. Jackman told Laura Kuenssberg on Sunday that a break with the British Royal Family would be “a natural part of growth.”
But, the X-Men actor stressed that he harbored “no ill will” against King Charles and wished the royal family “the best.”
He also discussed treatment, his connection with his children, and his 6,000-calorie-per-day diet on the program.
The Australian actor’s parents were both born in the United Kingdom, and he recalls attending royal events as a child.
“My father had us stop whatever we were doing in 1981 so we could watch the wedding of Lady Di and Prince Charles,” he told Laura Kuenssberg of the BBC.
There was no bunting at our home, but if my father had been able to locate it, there would have been.
Despite expecting Australia would become a republic, the 54-year-old expressed appreciation and admiration for the Royal Family’s efforts.
“I’ve met the Queen, the Queen Mother, and Prince Charles multiple times, and I see and feel a genuine desire to serve the public,” he said.
In his most recent picture, The Son, Jackman portrays a lawyer with a depressed teenage kid from a previous marriage.
The film examines absentee parenting, divorce’s effects on children, and adolescent mental illness.
Hugh Jackman, who was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance, stated, “This was a part I could play.”
He continued,
“I recognized the struggle of someone who is definitely juggling too many responsibilities but believes they have everything under control and can handle anything.”
It seems rather similar to me. Jackman acknowledged that counseling had “radical” effects on his perception of himself.
He stated that he was motivated by a “perfectionist” streak that made him “capable of doing things,” but he acknowledged that it was also “limited.”
“This film has also taught me that it is acceptable to be vulnerable. It is something to which everyone can connect. And even with my children, I am more vulnerable “he stated.
In addition, he stated that he thought it was time for a superhero film to win an Oscar and that he believed the genre was disregarded for nominations in the same way as comedic films.
He also addressed his impending involvement alongside Ryan Reynolds in the comic film Deadpool 3.
Prior to filming, he stated that he consumed 6,000 calories per day and trained seven days per week.
Let me just say that it’s harder when you’re 54 years old, he joked.
