Svika Pick, a television personality, songwriter, performer, and composer, passed away on August 14, 2022, at the age of 72.

Although the cause of mortality has not been made public, it is thought to have been brought on by age-related conditions or other natural factors.

Pick suffered from speech and movement issues as a result of a stroke in 2018. Even though his health had improved, he was no longer as active or as prolific as before. Pick was born on October 3, 1949, to Hebrew parents. His uncle taught music, and his grandfather operated a school for musicians.

When he was five years old, he started taking classes in classical music. After learning music at the Ramat Gan Conservatory, Pick started playing with local rock bands after his family immigrated to Israel in 1957. He was a well-known pop performer in Israel in the 1970s and made an appearance in the show Hair’s Hebrew adaptation that same year.

Select started making music in 1998, and together with author Yoav Ginai, they wrote the song Diva. The group reassembled in 2002, and they wrote Light a Flame for Sarit Hadad, Israel’s entry in the Eurovision Song Contest that year.

Additionally, he composed music for Eurovision contestants Oleksandr Ponomaryov and Angelica Agurbashin. Hasta la Vista for Ponomaryov and another tune for Agurbash were both written by him in 2003.

Svika Pick served as a juror for the singing competition Kokhav Nolad from 2005 to 2009. He appeared in the Bip docu-reality series HaMaestro in 2005. The soundtrack and title of an episode of Tamid Oto Chalom featuring the late musician from 2009 were composed of his tracks.
