While some Stranger Things fans are still reeling from the season 4 finale and others are speculating about Stranger Things 5, one of the show’s most famous characters wishes to return to the exciting world of the show.
The popular Netflix thriller, which is also possibly Netflix’s most successful project to date, has a penchant for inflicting severe pain on fan favorites such as Sean Astin’s Bob and Quinn’s Eddie Munson.
Stranger Things season 5 also saw the departure of Dr. Martin Brenner (played by Matt Modine), one of the show’s least endearing characters. Despite the doctor’s untimely death in the fight with Vecna, star Matt Modine believes his character will be able to return to the popular show for the final season. Stranger Things season 5 filming will begin in May 2023, which means that the majority of the screenplay has already been completed. But there’s still time to bring back Dr. Martin Brenner, even if only for a cameo.
What did Matt Modine say about his return to Stranger Things 5?
Matt Modine revealed in a recent interview with Radio Times that he was eager to return to his former role in the popular Netflix drama, even if it wasn’t in the same flesh as he had previously depicted it. His character was dropped following the conclusion of the previous season. Modine, on the other hand, believes that his image can be brought back to life in some way. In the interview, Modine stated:
“I wish I knew because I adore Millie Bobby Brown, the Duffer brothers, and [director] Shawn Levy, and it was a joy to work on every day…. I hope there is a chance to bring Dr. Brenner back for Season 5 because it would be incredible to be a part of the final season.”
He continued, saying:
“We didn’t see him dead; he was just lying in the ground. He survived the Demogorgon and Vecna in Season 4 Episode 1…”
While Dr. Brenner may be among the unlucky, many of the previous season’s cast members will return for the fifth season. Among those who have joined the cast are Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Cara Buono, Brett Gelman, Jamie Campbell Bower, and Eduardo Franco.
Shawn Levy and The Duffer Brothers will also return to film the majority of Stranger Things 5 episodes. The first four seasons of Stranger Things are now available on Netflix.
