Stephen Bear was sentenced to 21 months in prison for distributing a private video of him having sex with his ex-partner. Bear, 33, submitted to OnlyFans CCTV footage of himself and the Love Island actress Georgia Harrison.
The judge stated that he had caused her “severe shame and embarrassment.” Ms. Harrison stated that since the year 2020, she has endured “total torment.”
She told reporters outside Chelmsford Crown Court,
“Today’s sentence is a vindication of everything I’ve been put through and sends a strong message that the police and courts take this problem very seriously.”
“I want all other victims of this crime to know that I am in sympathy with them and that I have no regrets about renouncing my anonymity.
“I hope this deters others from committing this type of crime, and that those who have been victimized receive some form of justice.”
In December, Bear was found guilty of voyeurism and the dissemination of private sexual images and films.
He posed for a selfie outside the courthouse and began to perform Lady in Red to a reporter wearing a red coat prior to his sentencing.
As he was carried down to the cells, he waved and wished everyone a happy evening from the safety dock. Have a great weekend, everyone!”
According to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), he exhibited a “total lack of remorse.”
For five years, Bear is prohibited from contacting Ms. Harrison, who has been on The Only Way Is Essex, and Olivia Meets Her Mate.
In addition, he was compelled to sign the sexual offender registry and would be subject to notification obligations for a period of ten years.
In an earlier trial, prosecutor Jacqueline Carey KC stated that Ms. Harrison and Bear had consensual sex at Bear’s residence in Loughton, Essex, but Ms. Harrison was unaware that they were being videotaped.
The prosecutor stated that Ms. Harrison stated that when Bear showed her the video, she told him “never to distribute” it to anyone and “made it clear how furious she would be if he did.”
The victim stated that she witnessed Bear send the video to someone over WhatsApp later that day, and she learned later that year that it was circulating online.
Ms. Carey stated that Bear submitted the video to OnlyFans “either himself or by having it uploaded” and made a profit.
In his sentencing remarks, Judge Christopher Morgan stated that the disgraced reality TV star “wanted to exploit the commercial worth of the recording” because Ms. Harrison “would have been widely known and recognized.”
Hannah von Dadelszen, the deputy chief crown prosecutor for CPS East of England, stated during the hearing, “I would want to commend Georgia Harrison for her courage and resolve throughout this case.
“In contrast, Stephen Bear displayed a complete lack of remorse by never admitting responsibility for his abusive behavior and even blaming Ms. Harrison.
“Even though she leads a public life, Georgia Harrison is entitled to her privacy.
This, however, was taken away by Bear in the most flagrant manner for financial gain.
Det Con Brian Sitch of Essex Police mirrored her sentiments, praising Ms. Harrison for her “extraordinary bravery and patience.”
“This young woman stood before strangers in a courtroom and divulged the most intimate facts of her private life,” he added.
“She was had to explain to her family that this footage had been leaked.”
All of this occurred because Stephen Bear believed he could secretly video his former partner and get away with heinous actions.
