Ex-Strictly judge Dame Darcey Bussell DBE will become the first woman to lead Theatre Royal Plymouth’s board of trustees (TRP).
Nicholas Buckland OBE will be succeeded by Dame Darcey, who was the Royal Ballet’s principal for nearly twenty years.
She reported that she and her husband had “built a new base in Plymouth” in recent months.
Nonetheless, Dame Darcey stated that she has long been aware of the theater “and its excellence.”
The former BBC Strictly Come, Dancing judge, stated that she first danced in a theater 30 years ago.
Dame Darcey hailed Mr. Buckland, who is stepping down after 13 years, for his “extraordinary leadership” that had propelled the theater on a “bold and ambitious path to strengthen its status as one of the nation’s top theaters.”
Darcey Bussell continued,
“TRP is the throbbing heart of Plymouth, a city with a very bright future, and I am eager to play my part.”
James Mackenzie-Blackman, chief executive officer and executive producer, described Dame Darcey as a “real personification” of the theater’s principles and commended Mr. Buckland for his “excellent, long-standing leadership.”
