This Thursday, a jury in Louisiana indicted American rapper Mystikal on charges of first-degree r*pe. The musician was arrested for an alleged sexual assault that occurred in late July. State law stipulates that the artist faces a life sentence if convicted.
Michael Lawrence Tyler, whose real name is Mystikal, is also charged with simple robbery, domestic violence assault, false imprisonment, and simple criminal property damage.
His attorney, Joel Pearce, issued the following statement to the media:
It is a terrible accusation. It has no meaning. “We are looking forward to our day in court.”
Tyler, 51, was arrested in New Orleans, Louisiana, on July 31 on suspicions of first-degree rape. At 12:50 p.m. on the same day, the rapper was detained. He was accused of five offenses allegedly committed at 9:21 a.m. on that day.
In June, Tyler was denied bail, and he fired his attorney as a result. He sought the services of an attorney who had previously defended him in a 2017 case of sexual assault that included allegations of first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping.

Mystikal has already been charged
This is not the first time that Mystikal has been accused of a serious offense. The singer was charged with sexual assault and extortion in 2003.
In early 2004, the artist pleaded guilty to striking his hairdresser and faced up to six years in prison. His bodyguards, Vercy Carter and Leland Ellis pled guilty as well. The rapper was charged with two misdemeanors while still in prison.
In addition to his six-year state sentence, he was also convicted in federal court and offered the option of serving a one-year federal prison. In January 2006, he was refused parole.
A year later, he was released from prison on federal tax charges. In 2010, the artist was released and accused of s*x charges.
In February 2012, the singer was again imprisoned due to a dispute with a personal partner. Also, he was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery. In 2017, he turned himself into the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, which issued an arrest warrant for him.
In 2019, he was charged with rape and was being held at the Caddo Correctional Facility on a bail of $3 million. The next year, the r*pe allegations were dismissed due to a lack of proof.
