A guy was detained on suspicion of extorting television host Alison Hammond. Saturday evening, the 36-year-old was arrested at a Warwickshire house, according to the West Midlands police.
According to a report in The Sun, the 48-year-old host of This Morning has paid out substantial sums after falling victim.
The Birmingham-born celebrity allegedly received threats that she would be slandered if she did not comply with requests.
According to police, the suspect remains in prison for questioning.
Earlier, the West Midlands Police stated that investigations into the alleged blackmailing were proceeding rapidly.
The force said in a statement,
“We are investigating an allegation of blackmail against a woman in her forties.”

In 2002, the presenter rose to fame as a competitor on the third season of Big Brother.
In 2020, she was appointed to co-host of This Morning alongside Dermot O’Leary on Fridays.
2010 and 2014 also saw appearances on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and Strictly Come Dancing, respectively.
Alison Hammond was revealed as The Great British Bake Off’s new co-host last week, replacing Matt Lucas.
She also hosted the 2023 Baftas alongside actor Richard E. Grant.
