Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will return to lead the franchise after a three-year absence. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have confirmed that they will return to the “Bad Boys 4 ” franchise for the fourth installment.
Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will return to direct the untitled sequel, according to Sony Pictures
The filmmakers, who also worked on Warner Bros.’ shelved “Batgirl” film, also directed “Bad Boys for Life,” which reunited Smith and Lawrence as Miami-Dade detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett 25 years after the first “Bad Boys” film was released.
Soon after the third sequel hit theaters, Sony announced that a fourth “Bad Boys” film was in the works, and “Bad Boys for Life” went on to become one of the final blockbusters of the pre-pandemic era, grossing $426.5 million worldwide. Smith and Lawrence posted a reunion video on social media Tuesday morning with the caption, “IT’S ABOUT TIME!” indicating that the upcoming film was now moving forward.
As Smith makes his way to Lawrence’s house, the video announces, “Hey, I have some news to share.” “You should all stop scrolling.” Smith plays the first few notes of “Shake Ya Tailfeather,” a song by Nelly, P. Diddy, and Murphy Lee from the 2003 soundtrack to “Bad Boys II,” as a small hint. “I wish I was you, not knowing what I’m about to show me.”
As they approach Lawrence’s door, the two announce the arrival of the fourth film. “It’s just about that time!” Larry yells. “Bad boys for life, baby,” Smith continues, referring to the duo’s hit song. As they jokingly admit, the third film’s title effectively wasted the pun. Which they could have used for the fourth film. “We shouldn’t have called it that,” Smith quips.
Thus, Jerry Bruckheimer, Smith for Westbrook, Doug Belgrad, and Chad Oman will produce the untitled sequel, while Lawrence, James Lassiter, Mike Stenson, Barry Waldman, and Jon Mone will serve as executive producers.
