Skeet Ulrich is likely to be remembered today as “that guy from Scream,” a genuine and purposeful has-been. It’s not that Ulrich had no interest in acting. He simply cherished his offspring more.
Ulrich grew up in a broken family, having been abducted by his father and dragged across the country for three years before being returned to his mother when his father disappeared.
Consequently, when Ulrich’s marriage to Georgina Cates ended when his children were only four years old, he was unable to allow history to repeat itself.
Skeet Ulrich and His Former Wife Had Twins
On March 9, 2001, Jakob and Naiia, two beautiful fraternal twins, were born to Ulrich and his ex-wife, Cates. The marriage between Ulrich and his wife did not succeed, and the couple divorced in 2005. The father was awarded custody of the children after all was said and done.
Ulrich would have been able to employ an army of caretakers to care for and provide for his children if he had stuck to acting. However, due to his busy schedule, he would spend significantly less time with his children.
Ulrich may appear to an uninformed observer as a Hollywood failure or a passing fad. However, a closer examination revealed that his withdrawal was extremely deliberate.
Skeet Ulrich elected to spend time with the youngsters.
During an interview with Fatherly, the actor explained that his decision to continue caring for his children after his divorce from his wife was a reaction to his upbringing.
“I will not discuss the details of my childhood or the lack of parenting I received, but I would never make my children feel unloved.”
As a young adult, the actor pursued professional counseling to help him work through his feelings regarding his formative years. However, no matter how many times he ran in his youth, the total did not add up.
When he realized that his childhood trauma could never be repaired, his analyst advised him that he would only be able to cope with the memories after having children.
“I didn’t get it when I was 23, but he was correct,” he acknowledges. “I get to experience my youth in a novel manner. And now I get to be the parent I never had.”
Since then, the actor has only accepted roles that will keep him in Los Angeles, which is detrimental to his career.
Riverdale was the only product that he claimed to have worked on outside of Los Angeles. Additionally, Ulrich acknowledged employing a caregiver. However, he had only done it twice before.
“During the first season of Jericho, I employed a babysitter,” Ulrich disclosed. “They were commencing kindergarten, and I hired a babysitter once more after finishing Law & Order. “That’s it.”
Only after his children attained the age of eighteen did he consider taking acting jobs outside of Los Angeles.
