Clarence Avant has a long history in the entertainment world. Avant has had it all, from being a poor boy in Depression-era North Carolina to being a titan of management and deal-making and being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Avant was also active with R&B and rap empires, as well as sports and politics, in the latter portion of his life. Working as a promoter on Michael Jackson’s 1987 Bad world tour was one of the highlights. He entered the music business in the 1950s and later handled stars such as Sarah Vaughan, Jimmy Smith, and Lalo Schifrin, among others.
Is Clarence Avant still alive?
Avant was last seen eating dinner with son-in-law Ted Sarandos in mid-May 2022, according to certain newspapers. This was five months after his wife Jacqueline was assassinated by a paroled robber who stormed into the couple’s Beverly Hills home in late 2021.
Clarence was also joined by Netflix CEO Sarandos, who is married to Avant’s daughter, Nicole.
Sarandos and Avant were dining together outside a popular Hollywood restaurant on Wednesday night.
Later, the two left the restaurant in a car driven by Sarandos.
Avant had also attended Sarandos’ Netflix is a Joke comedy event earlier in the month. This was his first public appearance since his longtime wife was cruelly killed by Aariel Maynor on December 1, 2021.
Clarence Avant and His Wife: What Happened?
Around 2:30 a.m. on December 1, someone phoned Beverly Hills police to the Avant and Jacqueline $7 million residence.
According to the police, when they got at the scene, Avant’s wife, Jacqueline, was still alive but had only received a single bullet wound. The medic transferred The Black Godfather’s wife to a nearby hospital, but Jacqueline died later that morning.
Clarence was also at home at the time of the awful incident, although he was sleeping. Jacqueline eventually surprised the burglar, prompting him to fire his AR 15 at her.
Maynor was eventually apprehended by cops, and after several trials, he was sentenced to 150 years in prison.
Avant’s wife, Jacqueline, was a local philanthropist and former Ebony Fashion Fair model. She also served on the board of directors of UCLA’s International Student Center.
