On January 4, Christian Helger, a resident of Millcreek, was identified as him by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
A tree toppled on the lift line, causing Helga, a team member from Park City Mountain, to fall from a chairlift and die.
Around 10:45 on Monday morning, the incident took place; he was working at the time as a ski patroller when he became unseated.
Sara Huey, senior communications manager, claims that a tree fell on the resort and the man fell from a height of 25 feet.
Everyone who witnessed the episode was horrified and alarmed since it was so threatening to look at.
The Park City Mountain Ski Patrol arrived just as the tree crashed into the man and tried to save his life, but he was unable.
Ski Patrol responded, put everyone in a safe area, cordoned off the areas, and took action. They moved quickly since Helga’s life was in danger.
After being ejected from a chairlift that was rattled by a tree that fell into a lift cable, Christian Helger, 29, a worker at Park City Mountain, passed away on Monday morning in Utah.
Helger fell more than 50 feet into heavy snow after the tree struck the line behind the chair he was riding, according to the sheriff’s office captain.
When the tree was ultimately taken down, he was freezing and passed away immediately. No other traveler or teammate experienced any issues. In the field, only Helger was employed.
Everyone was at their jobs and it came on pretty suddenly. After 10 am, the vice president and chief operating officer arrived at the scene.
Everyone has expressed their condolences to his family and friends because it was an accident and nobody did it on purpose.
After his identity was established on January 4, his body was sent to his family.
“The Park City Mountain team shared condolence, extending their sincere sympathy and support to the family and friends of our team member,” according to a statement after the news of the event broke.
The vice president and COO of Park City Mountain, Deirdra Walsh, stated, “We are all deeply saddened by this tragic incident, and we will support our employees as they grieve this devastating loss.”
