From 2011 to 2015, Steven was a member of the Stormers. He re-enrolled in the program in 2017. Many are curious as to the whereabouts of the Stormer’s captain in the wake of his reported departure.

If Steven Kitshoff leaves the Stormers, where will he play next?

The end of the 2022-23 season marks the end of Steven Kitshoff’s contract with the DHL Stormers. The South African rugby player will begin playing for Ulster in the 2023–24 season.

Kitshoff broke through in the 2011 season, when he was just a youngster, making five games for the Stormers as a substitute and five appearances for Western Province in the Currie Cup.

The loosehead’s playing time increased in 2012, and he now wears the No. 1 jersey for both the Stormers and Western Province. In addition to his success on the field for South Africa, the athlete was instrumental in Province’s historic Currie Cup victory over the Sharks in Durban.

The talented rugby player had a great Super Rugby season in 2013, and he continued that momentum into the Currie Cup, where he was a consistent contributor as Province reached the finals for the second year in a row, only to lose at home to the Sharks.

Unfortunately for Kitshoff, he was injured near the end of the Super Rugby season that year.

The star rugby player was sidelined and unable to help Western Province win the Currie Cup in a thrilling match against the Golden Lions at Newlands.

How did Steven Kitshoff justify his decision to leave the Stormers?

Kitshoff, captain of the Stormers, has expressed his sadness at leaving behind the squad, the blue and white hoops, and everyone at DHL Western Province.

In addition, he said,

“I am definitely going to miss Cape Town, as it has a special place in my heart.”

The rugby player continued, “Among the things I will miss the most is the atmosphere that the faithful generate every weekend, the number of people that come out to support the team on a Friday or Saturday afternoon.

Kitshoff reflected on his young rugby career and claimed that signing with the DHL Stormers was the best choice he could have made. “Playing in the North-South derby in a playoff is extremely personal,” Steven chimed in.

Steven said that these are the types of activities that young athletes anticipate with excitement. They can’t wait for the chance to play them.

A few weeks ago, Steven Kitshoff’s final game with the Stormers was slated to be the next encounter against the Bulls. But before they left for the URC semi-final match against Connacht at the Cape Town Stadium, he got one more chance to say farewell.

The URC final was played at the same stadium on May 27 and ended in a loss for Stormers versus Munster.
