Marquis Amonte King, commonly known as Shy Glizzy, was born in Southeast Washington, DC on December 12, 1992. When King was a baby, his father was shot and killed.
His mother and grandmother raised him and his younger brother after that. As a child, King often ran afoul of the law; at the age of 14, he was arrested for small larceny, and at the age of 16, he was arrested for robbery.
As a result of the latter offense, he was jailed as a juvenile for 14 months. During his confinement, King completed his GED.

How did Shy Glizzy start his Professional Career?
Early in 2011, King went by the stage name Shy Glizzy and released his debut musical endeavor, the mixtape “No Brainer.” On Halloween, he released “Streets Hottest Youngin,” his second mixtape. Glizzy released his third mixtape, “Law,” in the middle of 2012, with special guests Wale and Project Pat.
The 11-track mixtape “Fly Money,” produced by Glizzy and Jose Guapo, was later released. A month later, “Fxck Rap” followed. Glizzy’s seventh mixtape, “Young Jefe,” was released in early 2014. Young Scooter, Gudda Gudda, and Young Thug all made cameo appearances.
The mixtape’s debut track, “Awesome,” peaked at number 45 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. “Law 3: Now or Never” was the title of Glizzy’s subsequent mixtape.
The next year, he and his Glizzy Gang collective released the album “Be Careful.” After then, Glizzy released “For Trappers Only.” In the summer of 2016, he released “Young Jefe 2,” his second mixtape. Glizzy’s past releases include the mixtapes “Quiet Storm,” “Covered n’ Blood,” and “Young Jefe 3.”
