His alleged adultery scandal caused Ime Udoka and Nia Long to split up. Following an alleged affair with an NBA coach, Nia Long, and Ime Udoka split after 13 years of marriage.
The Boston Celtics head coach, 45, and the Best Man actor, 51, are “no longer together but remain dedicated to co-parenting their son [Kez],” a representative for the ex-couple said to People on Tuesday, December 6. The pair had broken up three months after allegations that Udoka had an adulterous affair with an NBA staff member first surfaced in September.
After the allegations were made public, the Celtics suspended him for the 2022–23 season because the alleged relationship violated “club policies.” According to The Athletic, Udoka had an “intimate and consensual relationship with a female member of the Celtics staff.”
Despite denying the alleged infidelity, the former Brooklyn Nets coach issued an apology to “our players, fans, the entire Celtics organization, and my family” in response to his suspension.
“I’m sorry I put the team in this difficult position, and I accept the decision the team made. I’ll stop there out of respect for everyone involved. Marcus Smart, who addressed the media on September 26, claimed that the Celtics players were taken aback by the decision to suspend their head coach.
