Wayne Everett May was born on a farm in Sullivan County, Missouri, close to Harris, to parents Everett Clifton May and Bernice Evelyn Eaton.
Wayne was reared by his parents and grandparents, James E. May and Nettie Johnson May. Together with his family, he spent his formative years farming, raising, and exhibiting cattle.

May, age 90, died away at the Columbia VA Hospital on Thursday, May 4, 2023.
Wayne entered the VA Home in Mexico, Missouri, where he spent the last eight years, as his health began to decline.
Despite his difficulties, he found solace in the compassionate care provided by the nursing home personnel, who became his extended family.
Although the precise cause of May’s passing has not been made public, it is evident that he was in poor health and receiving medical care prior to his passing.
Wayne, who was devoted to his family, worked assiduously to provide for them. They reared their three children on a farm in the vicinity of Harris.
Later, they moved to Green City, where Wayne managed a ranch for cattle. In 1968, the couple moved to Kirksville, Missouri, where Wayne assumed a variety of responsibilities, including supervising the feed mill for Burroughs and MFA.
Later, he joined KTVO as a part-time cameraman and demonstrated his versatility by performing a variety of duties.
After a lengthy and successful career, Wayne joined Enterprise Rental Car Company as a customer driver after retiring.
Wayne remained a staunch conservative throughout his entire existence, holding fast to his beliefs and values.
He delighted in passing on his knowledge to his offspring and grandchildren, instructing them in the art of raising, grooming, and exhibiting cattle.
Wayne was devoted to sports, spending countless hours glued to the television or radio listening to football and baseball events. Additionally, he was a huge fan of country music, which added melody to his days.
