Critically injured, he was evacuated to the hospital but pronounced deceased upon arrival. In a career spanning 50 years, the actor accumulated over 130 film credits.

As you can imagine, we are stunned and deeply bereaved at this time, according to a family statement published by Variety.

“Treat was truly at the top of his game in all aspects of his life, including his love for his family, his life, and his craft.”

Barry McPherson, Williams’ agent of 15 years, described him as a “nice guy” who was “so talented.”

“He was an actor’s actor,” McPherson stated to People magazine, adding that Williams had been “at the center of Hollywood since the late 1970s.”

On social media, actor Wendell Pierce described Williams as a “passionate… creative man” whose “adventurous spirit was contagious.”

Following his breakout performance in Hair as the bohemian George Berger in 1979, Robin Williams appeared in Stephen Spielberg’s films 1941 (1979), Once Upon a Time in America (1984), Dead Heat (1988), Things to Do in Denver When You’re Dead (1995), and Deep Rising (1998).

He was also well-known for his stage performances in Stephen Sondheim’s Follies and the original Broadway production of Grease as Danny Zuko.

During the early 2000s, Williams portrayed the bereaved Dr. Andy Brown in four seasons of the American television drama Everwood. He also appeared in Chesapeake Shores, Blue Bloods, and Chicago Fire.

He was nominated for an Emmy for his performance in the 1996 TV movie The Late Shift, and he was nominated for three Golden Globes in the 1980s.

Richard Treat Williams, who was born in Connecticut in 1951, is survived by his 1988-married wife Pam Van Sant. The couple was the parents of two children.
