The shooter at MSU was revealed to be Anthony McRae, a resident of Lansing, Michigan and a Delaware native. His father said he was “evil angry” ever since his mother passed away in 2020, and he was said to be unemployed.

Anthony McRae, the MSU gunman, killed himself after being confronted by the police. He shot himself in the head and died as a result. Although a weapon was found by authorities, it is unknown if it was the one used in the shooting. McRae carried off a murderous rampage on a Michigan State University campus on February 13, 2023.
Shots fired in Berkey Hall on the Michigan State University campus were reported at 8:18 p.m. by Michigan State University Police and Public Safety. The shooter, McRae, killed two individuals in Berkey Hall before fleeing and entering at least two classrooms, where students were blocking doors and trying to flee through windows.
MSU officials issued a shelter-in-place order and sent out a warning tweet telling students to “run, hide, fight.” After leaving Berkey Hall, the culprit headed to the MSU Union building where he killed a third person and injured five more. As soon as the police engaged him, he fled through the north side of the Union and eventually killed himself.

Michael and Linda McRae welcomed Anthony Dwayne McRae into the world on June 10, 1979 in Bear, Delaware. He was born and reared in Trenton, New Jersey, and in 2003 he relocated to Lansing, Michigan. According to reports, McRae, 43, was unrelated to Michigan State University.
After his mother passed away two years ago, Michael, Anthony’s father, told CNN that he had developed a “evil rage.” He claimed that Anthony lost his teeth, stopped shaving his head, and became increasingly bitter, aggressive, and self-indulgent. Since the passing of his mother, Micahel continued, his son has begun to resemble a wolfman.
Anthony struggled to maintain employment and was unemployed. He had previously spent seven years moving refrigerators into trucks at a warehouse. Melinda McRae, Anthony’s sister, expressed disbelief at the news and claimed she didn’t understand his intentions.
Anthony had been living alone in a room at their father’s house in Lansing, Michigan, recently. Anthony, according to Melinda, was a vagabond who sporadically left the state, traveled to several places, and resided in a shelter. She continued by saying that her brother would frequently strike out at their mother, and that after she passed away in 2020, he would show extreme grief and turn angry.
How Many More? Memorial And Vigil For MSU Shooting?
There will be memorial services around Michigan for the victims of the MSU tragedy. The Hannah Community Center provided counseling services to students as well as residents of East Lansing and the Michigan State neighborhoods. There will also be vigils held in memory of the victims, and some people have offered to write messages to the MSU students and even interact with comfort dogs.
Students at MSU painted “How many more?” on the campus landmark known as The Rock to remember the victims. At the football stadium, flowers were placed on The Rock and the Sparty statue.
